Does anyone who reads this newsgroup have any experience with Braebury
Homes? I'm thinking of buying one and I wonder how your purchase went.
Was your house on time? Were there any problems with your house?
Would you buy from Braebury again?

There seems to be plenty of info online, you could try this link for
starters:

Some of Braebury's home designs did not meet Ontario Building Code:

Braebury homes is one of the largest builders in Kingston. When someone
builds that many homes, there is bound to be some small problems. Thay
have a crew of service people to take care of those problems when they
occur. They do have some of the nicest layouts at the lower prices. You
get what you pay for.

You obviously have a more favourable attitude toward home developers
than I do. I do not call Braebury's engineers stamping house plans with
overstressed beams "some small problems." Braebury's president is a
civil engineer, and this should not have happened.

This is one of the stories from that link I quoted. Doesn't sound small to
me, and note the BBB rating:

"Our BRAEBURY home is 2 years old. It has leaked since Day 1. We have had
numerous problems including, but not limited to, mould due to builder
neglect, plumbing issues, floor coverings (installed by builder) coming
apart, defective windows, windows installed UPSIDE DOWN, windows not sealed,
wiring, etc. To date, Braebury has not satisfactorily addressed ONE SINGLE
ISSUE. We have spent months, collectively, waiting around for workers who
never show up to complete jobs. Or even start them in some cases. Most
recently, our hardwood flooring in the family was ripped up due to excessive
water damage caused by another faulty window, and has been so for about 3
weeks. Braebury has now refused to fix the leak, or even replace the
flooring THEY ripped up. Our home is still under warranty. I am getting
together with several neighbours who also have Braebury homes and we are
going to see a lawyer (as of November 2006). I STRONGLY suggest you check
their rating on the Better Business Bureau report (www.bbb.org). You will

In today's Whig:

Engineers guilty of professional misconduct
Deficiencies in house plans described as 'shocking'
Posted By IAN ELLIOT WHIG-STANDARD STAFF WRITER
Posted 4 hours ago

The city refused to issue permits for new Braebury Homes models after
identifying deficiencies they feared made the homes structurally unsound
three times in six months in 2005.

Three professional engineers hired by Braebury to do the structural review
of the houses have been found guilty of professional misconduct by the
provincial body that regulates professional engineers.
